I'll contest NDC Eastern Region Chairman position - Tawiah Boateng declares

A Former Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bismark Tawiah Boateng, has decided to contest for the same position in the party’s upcoming regional executive elections.

Mr Boateng, who held the position between 2014 and 2018, stated that his decision was to unite the rank and file of the party for a resounding victory at the 2028 general election.

"I have been a regional chairman before and I know what it takes to firmly unite the rank and file of the party from branches to the constituencies and the regional level as a whole,” he told the Daily Graphic in an interview last Monday.

Visible

He pledged to make the NDC more visible and attractive when given the opportunity to become the regional chairman again.

"This is because I know every town, village and hamlet in the region as well as the differences among the people, and I will be able to do everything within my power to unite them to form a formidable front for the 2028 polls", Mr Boateng stated.

He said the party needed someone familiar with the party’s history and constitution, with rich experience, as well as the insight to understand the challenges confronting party members and the electorate.

Mr Boateng, therefore, called for support to enable him to take up the mantle again as the regional chairman to move the party forward.

Parliamentary seats

Mr Boateng gave the assurance that if elected as regional chairman again, he would increase the number of the party’s parliamentary seats from the current eight to more.

He also emphasised that the current seat being occupied by an independent Member of Parliament (MP) for Afram Plains North would also be snatched by the NDC in the 2028 general election.

Mr Boateng appealed to all party supporters and sympathisers to continue to be loyal to the party since President John Dramani Mahama was fully committed to transforming the country.
