Mahama endorses NDC demo against EC on Sept 17
The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has urged the rank and file of the party to fully participate in the Tuesday, September 17, nationwide demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC) if it fails to resolve issues of irregularities on the voters register.

"Our National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has announced the party's plan to organise demonstrations at all EC offices across the country to put pressure on the commission to resolve irregularities on the Provisional Voters Register (PVR).”
"On September 17, NDC is going to demonstrate in every town that has an EC office as announced by our party chairman. Wear your NDC party T-shirt and go out to demonstrate at EC offices," he said.
Mr Nketiah announced the nationwide demonstration on Monday, September 9, 2024, after he submitted the presidential nomination forms on behalf of Mr Mahama.

Endorsing the party's decision on Monday at Sampa in the Bono Region during his four-day tour of the area, Mr Mahama said the demonstration was meant to put pressure on the EC to address challenges associated with the voters' register to ensure peaceful and transparent elections.
He explained that the party had found several irregularities on the voters' register released by the EC, which needed to be resolved.
The former President said the party had made several complaints, but "nobody is paying attention to our request or demand".
Mr Mahama said the planned demonstration was to draw the attention to the EC to resolve the irregularities ahead of the December 7 general election.

Economy
On the economy, Mr Mahama said he left office in 2016 with a healthy economy to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), but because of mismanagement, the NPP government had led the country to bankruptcy.
The former President urged the chiefs and people of Sampa to vote for the NDC for positive change.
He said during his administration, he worked hard to bring development in the area and mentioned the Sampa Nursing Training College, water projects and expansion of electricity as some of the achievements of his previous government.
Mr Mahama pledged to construct the Berekum-Sampa road, Sampa-Seikwa road and Sampa-Wenchi road, including Sampa town roads if elected to ensure smooth transportation of the cashew nuts from farm gates.
Clergy
Mr Mahama also met with the Clergy in Sunyani, the Bono regional capital, where he urged them not to be afraid to speak the truth or against bad decisions taken by the government.
He said during his administration, the Clergy strongly criticised him, but they had been quiet in this current government.
At Jinijini in the Berekum West District, he said the current state of the country's economy needed an experienced person like him to address the challenges confronting the country.
At Asiri in the Jaman North District, he promised to construct a cashew processing factory in the area to process the volume of cashew produce in the area.
