My candidacy contributed to NDC’s performance in South Tongu — MP-elect
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament-elect for South Tongu in the Volta Region, Maxwell Lukutor, has said his candidacy contributed significantly to the party’s outstanding performance in the constituency.
“My candidacy and efforts played a pivotal role in securing the constituency’s trust and delivering such a resounding victory,” he said.

Mr Lukutor, a surveyor, in an interview with the Daily Graphic, said he polled 93.33 per cent of the votes in South Tongu in the just-ended December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.
This, he said, could be attributed to his deep connection with the people of the South Tongu Constituency.

The NDC MP-elect for South Tongu said his consistent engagement with constituents through community initiatives, development projects, health walks and listening tours strengthened the party’s grass-roots support base which resulted in the high voter turnout of 67.15 per cent.
“The NDC’s clear dominance suggests a well-organised campaign under my leadership. By mobilising party resources effectively and addressing voter concerns ensured a strong voter presence and commitment to the NDC,” Mr Lukutor said.
Mr Lukutor said as a unifying figure, he rallied party members and constituents around a shared vision for progress, saying his ability to inspire loyalty and confidence was reflected in the overwhelming margin of 40,668 votes over the NPP.
“Voters in South Tongu have shown that they trust Maxwell Lukutor to represent their interests effectively in Parliament,” he said, adding that his professionalism, technical expertise, and dedication to public service had made him a natural choice for leadership.

Mr Lukutor said his leadership has fortified the NDC’s dominance in South Tongu, which would ensure continuity and stability for the party in the region, saying his performance sets a standard for political candidates, which showcased his dedication to community service and genuine leadership that translated into electoral success.
The MP-elect for South Tongu said his exemplary leadership, combined with a strong campaign and deep community ties, not only ensured a decisive victory but also positioned him as a capable and trusted representative for the constituency in Parliament.
