CPP, LPG congratulate President-elect Mahama
The flag bearers of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) have congratulated the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, on winning the 2024 general election.
This was contained in separate statements signed by the flag bearer of the CPP, Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma, and Kofi Akpaloo, Leader of the LPG.

The CPP said the victory of the NDC’s flag bearer marked a significant chapter in the nation’s history.
Unity
“Mr Mahama’s victory is a reflection of the trust that the people of Ghana have in his leadership. I commend his determination and the democratic principles that underpinned this election.
As we look ahead, I believe it is essential that we focus on unity, collaboration and constructive engagement as we work towards a prosperous and inclusive Ghana,” the statement said.
The 2024 election, she said, had reinforced the power of democracy and the responsibility Ghanaians shared in shaping a future that fulfilled the hopes and dreams of every Ghanaian.
“As a candidate, my mission was to challenge the status quo and present bold ideas aimed at addressing the issues that matter most to our people. I remain unwavering in my commitment to fairness, justice and progress for all Ghanaians,” it said.
The statement emphasised the need for urgent reform in the agricultural sector and that it was inhuman to subject our citizens to years of generational poverty, and “we must make the use of hoes and cutlasses a thing of the past. We cannot continue to rely on outdated methods when the world is advancing with technology and innovation”.

It said the CPP’s flag bearer’s vision for a revitalised industrial sector must be pursued with urgency.
“It is time for Ghanaian factories to come back, but this time, they must be co-owned by the people. I proposed a bold plan during my campaign — the introduction of 20,000 Ghanaian shares for every citizen, ensuring that every Ghanaian has ownership in the industries that will power our economic growth.
This will enable us to give back to the people what rightfully belongs to them: ownership of the resources and industries that will drive our nation’s development,” it said.
LPG
The LPG’s statement said the will of the people had prevailed, and wished Mr Mahama success as he prepared to lead the nation.

To the few but dedicated citizens who cast their votes for the Liberal Party of Ghana, “I offer my deepest gratitude. Your commitment and belief in our vision mean everything to us, and we do not take your support for granted.”
“Though we did not achieve the outcome we hoped for, we remain steadfast in our resolve to work towards building a prosperous and inclusive Ghana. This is not the end of our journey but a reminder to continue engaging, learning and growing as a party,” the statement concluded.
