Rejection
A former Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC, Henry Ametefee, said: “The voting pattern signifies the total rejection of the New Patriotic (NPP) by the people who saw hope in the NDC.”
In a chat with the Daily Graphic in Ho, he said the people had endured pain and unnecessary hardship for far too long, and were, therefore, desperate for change for the better.

“They were, therefore, looking up to John Mahama for refuge,” Mr Ametefee said.
He said the victory was a reflection of the anger of the electorate at the polls, not only in the Volta Region but across the nation.
Out of the total of 658,131 votes cast, Mr Mahama had 584,234, representing 88.7 per cent of the ballots, while Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had 56,699, representing eight per cent.
Mr Ametefee said the result was a reflection of the failure of the government to meet the development expectations of the people.

“The voting pattern, therefore, is a reflection of the disappointment of the people in the NPP government,” he said.
Regarding voter turnout, less than 60 per cent of registered voters in the region exercised their franchise.
Rationale
The Moderator of the General Assembly of Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), Rt Rev. Lt Col Bliss Agbeko (retd), said the voting pattern signified the will of the people.

He said the people voted overwhelmingly for the NDC because of the failed governance they experienced at the hands of the ruling government and the failure to listen to the people, inability to address the needs of the people and the lack of knowledge in governing the country in the right direction.
“We pray the incoming government listens to the people and also adjusts to the needs of the people,” he added.
