NDC will provide credit facilities to market women — Afeafa Woayor

A deputy Volta Regional Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Cynthia Afeafa Woayor, has stated that access to credit facilities, particularly for women will be a major focus for former President John Dramani Mahama in his next administration.

That, she explained, was because of the recognition that women played crucial roles in all aspects of the economy. “Empowering women with credit to invest in businesses will help enhance the socio-economic well-being of the society and help reduce poverty in the country,” she stated.

Market groups

Ms Woayor stated these when she in the company of the Second Deputy Women Organiser, Ann Awo Galley, and some constituency women organisers, addressed market groups at Kpando Torkor, Logba, Anfoe, Kpeve and Dzemeni all in the Volta Region.

She pointed out that the current economic hardship experienced under the Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia administration was not conducive to business and hindered access to credit.

She attributed the situation to poor economic policies and bad governance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

“Businesses are collapsing under this government. Even some of the big companies are laying off workers while others are folding up due to high taxation,” she stressed, adding that “this development has given rise to high unemployment and poverty in our country. We must all come together and vote the NPP out.”

Support Mahama

For her part, Ms Galley urged the market women to remain confident and rally their support behind the leader of the NDC, Mr Mahama, and the Vice-Presidential aspirant, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, and vote massively for the NDC in the December elections to secure a decisive victory to help transform the country, especially in the areas of job creation and accelerated growth.
