Tano South Zonal Councils urged to promote development
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano South, Charles Asiedu, has urged members of the various zonals to execute their responsibilities devoid of partisan politics.
"Don't politicise your activities. If you do so, it will delay development. The constituency has several challenges which need to be resolved.
"You're the right people to support the assembly to address its challenges, such as poor sanitation, roads and electricity expansion in the communities. So work hard to resolve them," he said.
Mr Asiedu made the call at separate functions during the inauguration of the Brosankro and Dwomo/Mansin Zonal Councils in the Ahafo Region.
The inauguration of the Brosankro and Dwomo/Mansin Zonal Councils in the Tano South Municipal Assembly is expected to improve its performance and facilitate the development of the zones.
The councils are to assist in the implementation of the assembly’s policies and programmes to drive grassroots development.
Challenges
Mr Asiedu urged each zonal council to channel its energy, skills and resources to resolve the challenges facing the zones rather than engaging in partisan politics.
He urged them to embrace unity and ideas from the community members in order to gain their full support in the implementation of their activities.
Advice
At Brosankro, the Tano South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, advised the Council members not to abuse their powers, but to work hard to promote development.
He urged them to serve their zones with dignity, respect and always consult the communities, especially the chiefs and other opinion leaders, before initiating policies.
Mr Frimpong urged them not to hesitate to seek ideas and knowledge from the past council members when the need arose.
At the Brosankro Chief palace, he appealed to the chiefs to support his administration, guide and pray for him to succeed.
Mr Frimpong said he had opened his doors for developmental ideas, adding that he would work in the interest of the people.
For his part, the Chief of Bronsankro, Nana Kwasi Prempeh, appealed to the MP to speed up work on the Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound he (Asiedu) initiated in the community.
He also appealed to the MP to facilitate the creation of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centre in the area and construct deplorable roads to enhance movement and economic activities.
