I don’t speak for President Kufuor – Nana Akomea
New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Director, Nana Akomea says he cannot account for the absence of former President John Agyekum Kufuor from the party’s National Council meeting.
Kufuor, who is closely linked to suspended party chairman Paul Afoko, was conspicuously missing from Thursday’s meeting to hear a petition to reconsider the latter’s suspension, among other items.

But Akomea, who spoke on Asempa FM during recess of the meeting, said Kufuor was absent and he had no clue why he was absent.
I don’t speak for Kufuor, he told the station, and when he was asked if the former president was invited to the meeting, he said he would be very surprised if Kufuor was not invited.
When it was pointed out to him his response was not an answer enough, he was emphatic that the former president was duly invited, adding that even with his absence, the venue was overflowing with participants.
He added he had never seen such an attendance at any National Council meeting before.
The station later announced that the former president had joined the meeting after recess.
