A 34-year-old Master of Ceremonies (M.C), Mr George Kwaku Atakora, is vying for the position of the assembly member for Nyinampong electoral area in the Mampong Municipal Assembly (MMA).

He has promised to work hard to transform the fortunes of the people when given the mandate.
The Nyinampong electoral area consists of five communities, namely Nyinampong, Nkubeta, Patase, Sesease and Kokobeng.
Mr Atakora is competing with Mr Alexander Boamah, 38, a lotto agent, Mr Osei Yeboah, 50, a teacher by profession, and Ms Elizabeth Brefo Nimoh, 35 years and an apprentice.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Mr Atakora said governance was for development and therefore would ensure that all the people were mobilised to actively get involved in all the development programmes undertaken in their various communities
Mr Atakora noted that the communal labour spirit which had virtually dwindled would be rekindled in all the communities.
He stressed that he was going to work in concert with chiefs and unit committee members in the various communities in the electoral area and expressed the hope that with meaningful development programmes, the electoral area would be a showpiece of the municipality. He said there would be a forum in all the communities to discuss the best strategy that would help improve the quality of education and which would also make children responsible.
He said all the stakeholders, including the assembly member, teachers, parents, unit committee members, church leaders and groups would attend the forum.

Mr Atakora emphasised that children of today were the future leaders and therefore their development should be taken seriously.
He noted that he would work with the municipal assembly to procure funds to rehabilitate or reconstruct schools - some of which were in a dilapidated stage.
