Kwesi Pratt back calls for Portuphy to resign from NADMO
Ace journalist Kwesi Pratt Junior has backed calls for NDC chairman Kofi Portuphy to resign as national coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

According to him, it was morally reprehensible for the chair of the ruling party to also occupy such a public office.
Calls for Mr Portuphy to leave the post were initiated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Tema East, Titus Glover and has been backed by a group calling itself Concerned Branch Executives of National Democratic Congress.
The group stressed that the NADMO Coordinator must step down in the spirit of fairness, avoidance of conflict of interest and the principles of the democratic tenets on which the NDC was built
Commenting on the issue on Peace FM's morning show on Friday, the Insight newspaper editor expressed worry about Mr Portuphy’s decision to continue as a national coordinator of NADMO weeks after he became national chairman of the NDC.
“It’s difficult to understand why he is still at post, if I were him I would have resigned by now. He must understand that he is the leader of the party. This practice where leading members in government also take up appointments on boards of state institutions must stop,” Mr Pratt said.
“I don’t have anything against Portuphy, I am not saying he will be bias but I think that since he is the chairman of the ruling party, he must leave NADMO and allow another person to do the job,” he said.
Other panelists on the Peace FM morning show, Kwabena Bomfe of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and John Boadu, National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) also backed the calls for Mr Portuphy to resign from NADMO.
