LIVE UPDATES: NPP kicks off “WɔnGbo" demonstration
The New Patriotic Party’s planned demonstration to protest government’s handling of the energy crisis in the country is underway in Accra.
Hundreds of participants have already gathered at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle bearing placards conveying their frustrations with the situation with some demanding that President Mahama steps down altogether.
Ahead of the street march, the protestors are dancing to music, including NPP campaign slogans while also awaiting the arrival of party leaders.
Scores of policemen are also at the grounds to keep order.
The Flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, and other party leaders are expected to lead the march across Accra in protest against the power crisis, popularly referred to as ‘dumsor’.
