The brief enskinment ceremony took place at Duuraana’s Palace in Walewale, where Chief Duuraana Abudu recognized Mahama's efforts in maintaining peace throughout Ghana.

Chief Abudu lauded Mahama’s peaceful demeanor and his commitment to unity since his political career began as a Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi, eventually becoming a deputy minister, then the Minister of Communications, and finally the President of Ghana.

Chief Abudu highlighted Mahama's reputation as a peaceful leader, a recognition that has extended beyond Ghana's borders. He also praised the former president for his honesty and truthfulness, urging him to maintain these qualities to make Ghana a better place if he is elected in the 2024 elections.

The chief made a request for a police station, a tertiary institution, and a ministerial position for the region.

In his response, former President Mahama expressed gratitude to the chief and the people of Walewale for the honor and promised to work hard to ensure peace before, during, and after the 2024 elections. He pledged a peaceful campaign while cautioning the NPP-led administration against undermining the will of the people in the upcoming elections.

Mr. Mahama was in the region to support the fundraising dinner of the North-East Regional National Democratic Congress in preparation for the 2024 general elections. He was accompanied by Mr. Julius Debrah, a former Chief of Staff, and the NDC Regional Chairman, Tanko Ibrahim.
