‘Manly-Spain’s membership unquestionable’

Some National Executive members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have disputed claims purported to have been made by the Greater Accra branch of the party  that Mr Ekow Manly-Spain is not known in the party.

Mr Manly-Spain is aspiring to become the next Greater Accra chairman of the party.

In an interview, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Kofi Adams, said Mr Manly-Spain’s status in the party was unquestionable.

“Mr Manly-Spain is an NDC member, unless he has denounced his membership of which I am not aware, but I currently do not have any record to that effect,” he said.

Mr Kofi Adams advised all party members to desist from attacking their fellow members, adding that, they should not issue statements that would break the unity of the party.

The former Greater Accra Chairman and current  national Vice-Chairman of the NDC, Mr Danny Annan, stated that he knew Mr Manly-Spain as a legitimate party member who once contested in the Ablekuma South Constituency Parliamentary primaries.

He wondered why a supposed statement from the Accra branch would say it did not know him in the party, saying, “I know him as a staunch member of the party in the region.”

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Kpone-Katamanso, and a former Greater-Accra Regional Chairman of the party, Alhaji Antieye Tetteh, attested that he knew Mr Manly-Spain well as a loyal NDC member, and was surprised to hear in the media that he was not known in the party.

“He once decided to contest the chairmanship post, but was asked to step down for Ade-Coker, so why is he not known as a member of the party?” he questioned.
