MP appeals for construction of Eastern Corridor Road
The Member of Parliament for the Akan Constituency, Mr Aziz Muniru, has appealed to the government to construct the Eastern Corridor Road.
He said as one of its topmost priorities to serve commuters who plied that road, it was important that it urgently constructs the road.

According to him, the neglect of the road had left farmers and traders in the area in sorrowful state as they could not transport their farm produce to the marketing centres in Hohoe, Ho, Accra, among others; resulting in post harvest losses.
Mr Muniru, who disclosed this to the Daily Graphic in an interview at Kadjebi in the Volta Region, said “due to the neglect, the road has deteriorated further to the extent that road users have now resorted to alternative routes such as the Jasikan-Bodada-Hohoe road which is making life difficult for commuters.”
Health effects of bad roads
He said the health implications of the deplorable state of the road network could not be underestimated as pregnant women in labour and other patients who were supposed to be conveyed via that road ended up losing their lives.
Mr Muniru, who is also a construction management expert, explained that as a result of the temporal halt of the road construction from the Santrokofi-Jasikan section, the entire sub-base and base course were all gone owing to poor weather conditions.
He stressed that the value for money audit was not done before the abrogation of the contract and that the country would end-up paying more.
