MP for Amenfi West appeals for help
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi West, Mr Eric Afful, has appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and corporate bodies to come to the aid of the about 1,500 people at Samreboi who have been displaced by flood.
The flood was a result of the overflow of water from the banks of the Tano River following a heavy rainstorm at the weekend.

Mr Afful told journalists in Parliament last Tuesday that about 250 houses had been destroyed as a result of the flood.
A few people suffered some minor injuries but no death was recorded.
Four public schools have been closed down by the assembly for safety reasons.
Mr Afful said the displaced people at Sambreboi, which is in his constituency, were perching in mosques, churches, classrooms and homes of relatives.
He mentioned roofing sheets, cement, mattresses and clothes as some of the items needed to support the victims.
Worst case
Mr Afful said the area experienced flooding whenever the Tano River overflowed its banks.

However, he said the recent flooding was the worst that the area had witnessed in decades.
The legislator said the continuous rains in the area caused the river to overflow its banks.
He partly attributed the cause to illegal mining activities.
Mr Afful said the current flooding should be a wake-up call for the people to discourage any illegal mining (galamsey) activity in the area.

"It may be attributed to the operations of galamsey. We need to respect the water bodies for the water bodies to respect us," he said.
Mr Afful lauded Samartex, a timber and plywood company, for coming to the aid of the people with mattresses and assorted food items.
