Okoe Boye Skills Support Programme

The Okoe Boye Skills Support Programme is an initiative by the MP in conjunction with Goodwill Microfinance Company to provide financial and logistical support to the employable inhabitants of Ledzokuku through a flexible loan scheme.

The initiative entails the MP, who is the Board Chairman of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, absorbing the interest on a loan sourced from Goodwill Microfinance while the principal or capital is paid by the beneficiaries of the loan.

The MP disclosed that aside absorbing the interests on the GH¢1000 loan each to the 21 market women, another 150 market women who would receive their share on Friday would have their interests absorbed.

"Also, I will pay the interests of GH¢25,000 on the taxi and the entire cost of GH¢20,000 which is the price of the tricycle, he noted".

Cost of taxi and tricycle

Goodwill Microfinance purchases the items with the consent of the MP and syndicates it to the beneficiaries with an interest. Dr Okoe Boye then presents the items to his constituents, the fourth of such initiative since taking office, and absorbs the interest on the loan.

The beneficiaries are then given a grace period of between 10 and 24 months to pay.

The tricycle costs GH¢20,000 payable in two years while the taxi comes at a cost of GH¢45,000 to be paid in two years. The MP absorbs the interest on the payment of the tricycle and the GH¢25,000 interest on the saloon taxi car.

Beneficiaries

A beneficiary, Madam Comfort Amartey, who received a GH¢1000 loan for her trading activities, thanked the MP for his efforts and promised to put the money to good use.

A member of the Lascala Taxi Union, Mr Shiah, noted the taxi would be put to good use for the benefit of all taxi drivers.
