He explained that even though people might be harbouring some misgivings about others in the run-up to the congress to elect national officers to lead the NDC for the next four years, a successful meeting would have mended any cracks within the party.

Kumasi stadium

More than 3,600 delegates from all the 10 regions will arrive in the once "Garden City of West Africa,"tomorrow Saturday, where they will converge on the Kumasi Sports Stadium precisely to choose their national leaders to see to the smooth running of NDC affairs for the next four years.

Already, the party has chosen its national youth and women’s organisers at separate congresses.

Nothing untoward

According to Mr Aidoo, who spoke to the Daily Graphic in Takoradi, he did not expect anything untoward  during the period of the congress. Rather it was democracy within the NDC that would be deepened at the end of the day, he stated. He said that all the 320 delegates from the region he would lead to Kumasi had been urged to remain focused, adding that the necessary accommodation had been arranged for his people.

He declared that Kumasi was a very congenial place for the congress and "I believe at the end of the period peace will prevail and reign high in the party. I know that there will be much improvement at this event over the previous ones."

Vetting/qualification

The Western Region NDC chairman was of the opinion that having successfully gone through strenuous vetting by competent teams, all the contestants were now qualified to be voted for as national officers to lead the party.

"I am sure the delegates, in their own wisdom, will select more competent leaders to steer the affairs of the party come December 20, 2014. Everyone is capable and efficient enough to handle the matters of the party and that will further entrench our internal party democracy," he stressed.

Amendments

Big Aidoo also expected that there would be some amendments to the party's Constitution, having worked with it for quite some time now, adding that some few areas would be looked at as it happened to any dynamic establishment or entity.
