NDC to contest Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, opens nominations

The National Democratic Congress(NDC), has opened nominations for Parliamentary Primaries in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency of the Greater Accra region, ahead of the by-elections.

A statement issued by the party on Monday, said the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the party acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) has notified the constituency executives in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency to open nomination for the parliamentary primaries in accordance with article 41 of the NDC Constitution.

Picking of Nominations forms starts immediately from Monday 17th to 18th December, 2018, the statement said, and listed the following electoral activities for the primaries.

  • Filing of Nomination - Friday, 21st December, 2018
  • Vetting - Saturday, 22nd December, 2018
  • Elections - Friday, 28th December, 2018

The statement said the cost of nominations forms and filing fees as provided for by the party’s guidelines for the parliamentary primaries is GH₵1,000.00 and GH₵10,000.00 respectively, with a 50% discount on the filing fees for females and Persons with Disability.

“All prospective aspirants are encouraged to pick their nomination forms from the Constituency Secretariat between 9am to 5pm each day”, the statement signed by Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, General Secretary of the NDC, said.

The seat became vacant following the sudden death of the New Patriotic Party member and occupant, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko on Wednesday, November 21, in the United States of America.
