NPP mourns Apostle Kwadwo Safo; says he built legacy as generational inventor and industrialist
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo ‘Kantanka’, the prominent religious leader, inventor, and philanthropist known as the "Star of Africa," who died on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

In a statement signed and released Monday morning by the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party described the loss as a profound blow to the nation, highlighting Apostle Safo's lifelong dedication to innovation and community service.
As founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, he inspired countless Ghanaians through his work in religion, agriculture, and industry, embodying a spirit of self-reliance that resonated deeply in everyday lives.
Apostle Safo built a legacy as a generational inventor and industrialist.
He established the KOSA network of companies and the Kantanka Group, which includes Kantanka Automobile, a wholly Ghanaian-owned automotive company recognized as one of Africa's leading technology conglomerates.
His innovations, from locally made vehicles to agricultural tools, showcased practical solutions that addressed real challenges faced by farmers, entrepreneurs, and families across the country, fostering a sense of pride in homegrown achievements.
The NPP noted Apostle Safo's strong ties to the party, particularly in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, where his daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo, served as a Member of Parliament for three terms on the NPP ticket.
He was remembered as a key pillar of support, offering guidance and resources that strengthened community ties and political efforts in the area.
Party leaders extended their deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the Kristo Asafo Mission, and the wider Ghanaian public, commiserating over the departure of what they called an "extraordinary, illustrious citizen." The statement emphasized the human side of the loss, acknowledging the pain felt by those who knew him personally and the void left in the lives he touched through his philanthropy and leadership.
"May the soul of our dearly departed find comfort in God's bosom, and may the family he left behind, and indeed, all of us in the Party and beyond, find fortitude to bear this great loss," the statement read, signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong. "Damirifa Due!"
Apostle Safo's contributions extended beyond business and faith, touching on education and social welfare initiatives that helped uplift vulnerable groups. His story, from humble beginnings to becoming a symbol of African ingenuity, continues to motivate young Ghanaians pursuing careers in science and entrepreneurship.
