NPP touts Kufuor’s achievements
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said it is very proud of former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s leadership and achievements during his eight-year tenure from 2001-2008.

According to the party, former President Kufuor introduced far-reaching social policies which had irreversibly advanced the progress of the country and its people.
In a goodwill message to mark the former President’s birthday, which fell yesterday, the NPP declared, “on this auspicious occasion of your 76th Birthday, the NPP wishes you, President Kufuor every happiness and blessing.’’
The statement signed by Nana Akomea , Director of Communications of the party, stated that some of the far-reaching social policies that President Kufuor introduced included the unprecedented health insurance policy, the capitation grant, school feeding, free maternal health care and Metro Mass Transport as well as the decriminalisation of free speech.
The NPP statement further commended former President Kufuor for stabilising the cedi and supervising the discovery of the ‘’almighty oil in commercial quantities for our country.’’
According to the statement, he also supervised the 2008 elections and the smooth transfer of power, the second of its kind in the Fourth Republic.
‘’After your retirement from the presidency, you have received and continue to receive many international awards and recognition, thus bringing more glory to our country. You remain a pillar of stability not only in our party but in our country and our continent,’’ the statement declared.
‘’On this happy occasion of your 76th birthday, we can only pray for God to grant you more years and every blessing. Happy Birthday President John Agyekum Kufuor,’’ the statement concluded.
