Dr William Collins Asare received the funds on behalf of the COVID-19 Trust Fund, while the Ambassador, Dr Barfuor Adjei-Barwuah, received on behalf of the Embassy of Ghana.
Donation
Presenting the cash, Mrs Frimpong explained that the contribution was part of the party’s efforts in helping to fight the COVID-19 pandemic collectively.
She further underscored the need for the party to engage in non-partisan nation-building efforts, stating that: “Although we are a branch of a political party, our mandate goes beyond extensive partisan efforts only. We have a duty as patriotic citizens to come to the aid of the country in times of a global crisis like this one.”
“There are times where we must put our differences aside and rather put the nation first. This contribution is our way of saying that the fight against COVID-19 is a collective one and not a partisan one,” she said.
Commendation
The chairperson also commended frontline workers and called for expedited testing, adding that: “Our healthcare workers, particularly those in the frontline, are risking their lives on a daily basis. We commend their efforts and call for more financial support from other groups to help in this fight.”
She further called on community leaders to urge their members to adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols.
