The General Secretary of the NPP, Mr Kwabena Agyepong, predicted that the party would win over 30 per cent of popular votes in the Volta Region.

Speaking to party officials from the 26 constituencies in the Volta Region in Ho last week, he assured them of the preparedness of the flag bearer and the leadership of the party to "match the NDC boot for boot in the 2016 elections."

According to him, the party had put in place strategies and programmes aimed at ensuring visibility in the region and urged party officers to eschew division and work towards attaining what he described as an "achievable goal."

The National Chairman, Mr Paul Afoko, also described Election 2016 as a redemption mission.

NDC targets

But the NDC regional youth organiser said no pressure groups would be allowed to prevent the NDC from being victorious in the 2016 elections and that pressure groups would emerge like mushroom and would equally disappear at the same rate.

Mr Kuduto, therefore, gave the assurance that the government would execute outstanding projects and continue to engage with the people to make the party always attractive.

He, however, called for decorum in political campaigns, saying: “As the political season gets near and the campaign intensifies, some individuals and groups may attempt to use intemperate language with the view to maligning their opponents.”

Freedom fighters

According to him, already there are some disgruntled youth stirring controversy on the platform of Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) of (NDC).

He said the disgruntled youth belonged to a group known as Volta Freedom Fighters.

Mr Kuduto said the youth wing totally disassociated itself from the group and that the NDC was already a liberated party and did not need any freedom fighters.

He said the youth wing would support a just cause which was in the supreme interest of the people.

Mr Kuduto said there was no personality cult in the party and that there were party structures for the resolution of grievances.

He cautioned any segment of the youth who might resort to media war that would negatively affect the image of the party and the targets set for Election 2016.
