Outgoing Eastern Regional Minister lauded

The outgoing Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs Hellen Adwoa Ntoso, has been lauded for her significant contributions towards the development of the region.

Executive members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), municipal and district chief executives (MDCEs), traditional rulers and the police service in the region, who praised the minister, said although Mrs Ntoso had only spent 12 months in the region, she successfully undertook many initiatives that accelerated the region’s growth for the benefit of its people.

The initiatives, they said, included a crusade against illegal mining (galamsey) and logging, the settlement of chieftaincy disputes, especially the re-unification of the Akuapems, as well as the continuation of development projects.

They gave the commendation at a send-off party held in her honour in Koforidua on Friday.

Osabarima Ansa Sasraku, Mamfehene and Kyidomhene of Akuapem, who represented the chiefs in the region, said the role played by the outgoing regional minister in re-uniting Akuapems would go down the books of history.

The Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mr Anthony Gyampoh, described Mrs Ntoso as a unifier who is full of respect for the party’s executive, while the Dean of the Regional MDCEs, Mr Samuel Fleicher-Kwasi, who is also the political head for the Suhum Municipality, said the support from her made it possible for them to perform their duties.

In response, Mrs Ntoso said she was overwhelmed by the co-operation she received from the people of the region, and expressed the hope that such a co-operation would be given to Mr Julius Debrah, the incoming regional minister whom she considers a brother.
