Peter Wiafe Pepera is dead

The Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Mr Peter Wiafe Pepera, is dead.

He died at the 37 Military Hospitals on Saturday after a short illness.

Although an autopsy has not been performed, family sources say Mr Pepera, aged 62, died of cardiac arrest.

An industrial consultant by profession, Mr Pepera was a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Privileges, as well as Trade, Industry and Tourism.

In the late 1990s, Mr Pepera was a Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

When the NDC lost power in 2000, he switched camp and joined the New Patriotic Party (NPP), eventually becoming an MP on the ticket of the NPP in 2004.

Mr Pepera was also at one time the Managing Director of Paramount Distilleries.
