PNC sets up committee to investigate Mornah, Asante over party funds
The People’s National Convention (PNC) has set up a five-member committee to investigate the alleged receipts and deposits of party funds meant for party operations into the personal or private bank accounts of the national chairman, Mr Bernard Mornah, and the second vice-chairman of the party, Mr Henry Asante.
It said that had become necessary due to uncovered evidence of bank deposit transaction receipts bearing names of the two officials, purporting the funds were meant for party operational works and activities.
Committee composition
Members of the committee are Mr Moses Daniba, a member of the party’s fund-raising committee, Mr Alhassan Azong,a member of the party’s finance committee, Mr Isshaque Awudu, youth organiser, Ms Janet Dabla, a member of the fund raising committee and Alhaji Yakubu, a member of the fund raising committee.

The committee is to submit its report within two weeks to the Functional Executive Committee or the Finance Committee of the party with appropriate recommendations.
A statement signed by the National Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance Committee, Mr Akane Adams said an independent body, such as the Financial Intelligence Centre, the Ministry of Finance might be invited to assist the team in investigations, if the respondents failed to comply and cooperate with the five-member investigation team.

It said the committee was expected to invite and meet the respondents and witnesses to take their views and ascertain and document the truth on how much total funds and logistics had come to the party so far, the sources of funds received and the records of expenditures and receipts of the funds.
“This is to ensure the party keep records of all funds received and transactions made so far to propel the party ahead of its 2020 national delegates conference,” it said.
