Police tighten security at EC office for collation of 4 remaining parliamentary results
The police have tightened security at the Greater Accra Regional office of the Electoral Commission as the EC was scheduled to complete the collation in four disputed constituencies and declare the winners of the parliamentary elections today, Sunday, January 5, 2025.
There is a significant security presence around the office on Sunday, with heavy deployment of personnel from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Immigration Service.
This heightened security measure is in place to ensure a smooth and peaceful collation exercise.
The Ghana Police Service is taking the lead in maintaining law and order, with the military providing standby support.
The military has not been stationed at the collation centre but ready to respond upon a request by the police.
The exercise is to complete the collation process which was halted after the December 7, 2024 parliamentary elections in those constituencies.
