Pool resources to resolve youth challenges — NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has tasked Ghanaians to pool resources to complement the government’s efforts in resolving challenges facing the youth.

“We are of the view that more efforts should be made to sustain the awareness of youth civic engagements in the country,” the NDC said in a statement to mark International Youth Day.

The day is celebrated to mark the role of the youth in the society.

Interactions

According to the statement signed by Mr Sidii Musah Abubakarm, the National Youth Organiser of the NDC, over the years, the NDC had evolved policies and programmes that not only empowered the youth economically, but also emphasised effective youth civic interactions to enhance active participation in multi-party dispensation.

That vision, the NDC pointed out, had undoubtedly culminated in the establishment of youth groups with the view to unearthing potentialities and nurturing them to assume responsible positions to manage the affairs of the country.

While commending the government for instituting programmes that sought to promote the welfare of the Ghanaian youth, the statement said the NDC was encouraging the government to continue to engage the youth at all levels of development.

Human resource

“That, we believe, will not only help enrich and sustain the human resource base of the country, but will also create more opportunities for the youth, “ it added.

The youth wing of the NDC, therefore, extended its felicitation to the youth in Ghana and the world over on the occasion of International Youth Day, which fell yesterday, saying that “We see the theme for the celebration, ‘Youth Civic Engagement’, as more appropriate and relevant, especially in Ghana, as the nation strives to nurture and consolidate its fledgling democracy, an indication that the current generation of young ones has a major role to play in promoting good governance in contemporary politics.” -
