The Liberal Democrats (Lib Dems) were formed in 1988 by a merger of the Liberal Party and the Social Democratic Party.

The quintessence of the programme, according to Ms Berlinda Bulley, the PPP National Women’s Co-ordinator, was for the PPP representatives to shadow Liberal Democrat campaigners and political leaders in battleground constituencies and also attend the party’s pre-election conference in Liverpool where they will participate in a tailor-made training programme on campaigning.

Twelve delegates from around the world have been selected ACto participate in the week-long session. After reviewing the profiles of over 300 politicians all over the world, 81 were shortlisted out of which Mr Paa Kow Ackon of the Progressive People’s Party scored the highest and was unanimously selected by the approving board as the first choice.

The PPP National Youth Co-ordinator, Mr Divine Nkrumah, has also been selected after a similar competitive process to participate in Lib Dems youth South Africa project.

The Lib Dems have been very impressive with the talents within the PPP and the consistency in the fight against corruption,  implementation of the free compulsory basic education and job creation.
