The National Parliamentary Campaign Team will operate out of the party headquarters and, together with the regional teams, coordinate election strategy and political communication with the various organs of the party and Ghanaians.

The Chairperson of the national team is the National Secretary of the PPP, Mr Murtala Ahmed, and that of the regional team is Mr Eugene Nana Afari Gyamfi.

Key goal

As a key goal, the PPP is determined to win seats in Parliament primarily to establish itself firmly as the alternative to the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party.

Launching the committees at a press conference in Accra yesterday, the National Chairman of the PPP, Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond, said the unveiling of the other nine regional campaign committees would soon follow.

As party campaign tools, Nii Brew Hammond said, the teams were expected to help PPP win enough seats to hold the balance of power for the PPP by working together to develop integrated campaign strategies such as polling station organisation, fund-raising, logistical organisation, research, as well as media and public relations.

He said the task of the committees would include helping to elect candidates and recruiting good and popular candidates in constituencies that could yield political dividends for the PPP.

The committees, he said, would also stay in touch with the constituencies to offer advice and suggestions to the candidates.
