Retain NPP in power - Samira
The wife of the Vice-President, Mrs Samira Bawumia, has appealed to residents of Zongo communities to retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in power to enable the party to continue to implement good policies for the country.
She said the government had demonstrated its commitment to invest in the Zongo communities to improve the lives of the residents, hence the need for them to vote massively for the party on December 7, 2020.
At a mini durbar held in her honour in Sunyani last Wednesday, Mrs Bawumia mentioned the establishment of the Zongo Development Fund and support for the youth in Zongo communities that enabled them to earn a decent living for the past three years as some of the specific interventions by the government to the Zongo communities.

Hundreds of people at the Sunyani Zongo thronged the durbar grounds amid singing and cultural performances to welcome Mrs Bawumia.
Before the durbar, Mrs Bawumia visited the Sunyani main market to interact with the market women and traders and to solicit votes for the NPP in December 7, 2020.
More programmes
Mrs Bawumia explained that the Zongo communities had been left behind in terms of development, hence the deliberate policies by the government to invest in Zongo communities to develop those communities not only in terms of infrastructure but human resource development.
She said the next NPP government would continue to implement more programmes and policies to create business opportunities for the people in Zongo communities.
Zongo chiefs
The Vice-President of the Sunyani Council of Zongo Chiefs, Alhaji Baba Mohammed Karifala, commended the government for rolling out social intervention programmes that were impacting the lives of people within Zongo communities across the country.
He said the various government flagship programmes being initiated within the Zongo communities from the Zongo Development Fund would significantly improve the living conditions of residents.
He said the policies and programmes of the government such as the free senior high School had brought relief to many parents.

“No matter the outcome of the December polls, politicians must ensure that there is peace in the country, because we need peace,” he stated and admonished politicians and their sympathisers to work towards maintaining the current peaceful atmosphere the country was enjoying.
Alhaji Abdul-Kadir called on the government to establish an Islamic Senior High School in Sunyani Zongo to serve the youth in the area, explaining that the community really needed such a social amenity.
