Samia is a disappointment - CPP
The national chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Professor Edmund Delle, has expressed disappointment over comments by Samia Nkrumah following her defeat at the party’s presidential primaries on Saturday.

Ivor Greenstreet won massively with 1,288 votes of the 1,992 valid votes to beat her former chairperson, Samia Nkrumah who came a distant second with 579 votes. The others were Joseph Agyapong – 83 and Bright Akwetey 42 votes.
Ms Nkrumah in a post primaries media interview suggested that Ivor Greenstreet won the elections because he influenced delegates with money.
She said: “…every delegate was paid GH¢200 and GH¢500 actually, among many other things. So, it was down to money and of course we cannot be happy about that…”
Responding to it, Professor Delle expressed dissatisfaction over the statement, saying, “I’m deeply disappointed… I didn’t expect leading members of the party to speak in that way. I’m saddened by it and I think we should respect delegates.”
“I am confident that our former chair and leader will think about it and probably come back to withdraw it because it is not in the interest of the party,” he added.
Prof Delle who was speaking in an interview on Accra based Joy FM Monday morning noted that the CPP was a united party and that if any member of the party had reservations, such comments should not be made in the public domain.
“I stood with Samia Nkrumah in 2012 and I lost. I accepted the defeat. I never complained…I’ve been in this party for years. I’ve run several elections and I’ve lost but I’ve remained loyal to the party. I’ve never said one word against any member of the party,” he noted.

“CPP is a family. When we have family problems we go in doors, we discuss them and we speak with one voice,” he added.
According to Prof Delle, it was important to note that delegates were “discerning” people and that “gone are the days that we thought that delegates were like sheep and goats that we go and buy in the market.”
“I made it clear at the congress that CPP is a united party and any person or persons who can destroy the CPP are CPP members themselves. I was expecting that members of the party, if they had any reservations, they should channel their grievances to us and not to speak outside,” he said.
Prof Delle also urged party members to stay calm and not take offense to the remarks by Madam Nkrumah.
“I’m expecting that within the next two, three days we would heal the wounds,” he added.
