The decision to open nominations was taken last Monday at a national executive meeting of the party.

A statement  signed by the General Secretary of the party, Prince M. Zakaria, and a copy  made available to the Daily Graphic stated that the nominations, which began on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, would close on Friday, June 3, 2016.

The Statement read, “At its National executive meeting held on Wednesday, the United Front Party has approved the immediate opening of nomination for the subsequent election of its constituency, regional and national officers and ultimately, the party’s presidential candidacy”.

Nomination forms

A nomination form to contest a constituency executive position would be filed at a fee of GH¢500, while the regional position would go for a fee of GH¢5,000. The fee for a national executive nomination form would be GH¢10,000.

The nomination form for the position of a presidential candidate would be at a fee of GH¢100,000.

Presidential candidature

Checks made by the Daily Graphic showed that the Founder and National Chairman of the UFP, Nana Dr Agyenim Boateng, better known as Gyataba, would be picking and filing forms to contest the presidential candidate of the party.

This would be the first time a founder and national chairman would be vying to be a presidential candidate of any party in the country.

It is likely he would be unopposed.
