Voters in Ablekuma Central eagerly await announcement of their MP

It has been over 24 hours since the people of Ablekuma Central cast their votes to elect a parliamentary representative for the ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic, but they are still waiting to learn who will lead them.

Supporters of the two leading parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), are anxiously awaiting the announcement of either the incumbent, Abdul Latif Dan of the NDC, or new candidate Jefferson Sackey of the NPP as their parliamentary representative.

The counting for the parliamentary race is complete, but the presidential results are still being collated.

Although not yet officially confirmed, the incumbent is expected to return to Parliament with a margin of around 11,000 votes.

Officials, supporters and media personnel spent the night at the Odorkor Police Station, which is serving as the collation centre.

Security remains tight, with only accredited individuals allowed entry into the "counting room."
