We shall serve your interest. President assures people of Manya Krobo

President John Dramani Mahama has assured the people of Manya Krobo of accelerated development in the traditional area and asked them to have hope in his National Democratic Congress (NDC)-led government.

He said already, the government had undertaken a number of development projects to better the lives of the people and that more would be done as long as he remained the President of the country.

The President gave the assurance when he joined the chiefs and people of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area to celebrate this year’s Ngmayem Festival at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region.

On roads, health, education, electricity, water among other areas the President mentioned those in progress and those yet to take off as evidence of the government’s commitment to better the lives of the people.

‘’The number of infrastructure that has taken place in your traditional area, including the assembly hall complex at the Krobo Girls Senior High school, the Akro Senior High, the Manya Krobo Senior High among others are clear testimonies to keep the government in power to do more for you,’’ the President emphasised.

Peace accelerated development

The President thanked the people of the area for the peace and support they had given the NDC for many years, adding, “Development can’t proceed in an atmosphere of strife and chaos,’’

He said it was important the people of the traditional area continued to keep the peace to ensure accelerated development.

President Mahama expressed his admiration for the customs and traditions of the people of Manya Krobo.

On the new community day senior high school at Oborpah, the President shared in the concerns of the people of the traditional area, and again gave an assurance that the contractor would come back to the site to complete the delayed project.

He said plans were also far advanced to establish the University of Environmental and sustainable Development in the Eastern Region. He added that the tender process had begun for a Community Nurses Training College to be established at Odumase Krobo

Chieftaincy disputes

The President appealed to the chiefs and people of Manya Krobo to rally behind the government for the full realisation of the change and transformation being spearheaded by his government.

He repeated his promise to Ghanaians that the election would be held in a peaceful manner.

The Konor (Paramount Chief ) of Manya Krobo, Nene Sakite II, in his welcome address mentioned a number of uncompleted projects such as roads and schools in his traditional area and appealed to the government to see to their completion to better the lives of the people.

He said his traditional area was full of chieftaincy disputes which were hindering development and appealed to parties involved in the disputes to make sure they installed legitimate chiefs to occupy vacant stools.

 He also added his voice to that of the President for peace to prevail before, during and after the election.

The Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Mr Seth Terkper, the Eastern Regional Minister, Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, her Deputy, Mr Joseph Tetteh Angmor, the former Member of Parliament for Lower Many Krobo Constituency, Mr Michael Teye Nyaunu, graced the occasion.
