Post election issues: Youth storm Bui Power Authority, demand exit of all staff from junior to management staff
A group, numbering about 30 and claiming to be members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday stormed the premises of the Bui Power Authority (BPA), demanding that all employees, from management to the lowest level, vacate their positions.
They argued that their government had taken over and therefore the employees have to be changed.
The group insisted that not even the President can stop their actions, claiming Ghana belongs to all citizens and warning of further action if their demands were ignored.
In a video shared on social media, one of them identifying himself as their spokesperson accused the Authority’s staff of financial mismanagement, nepotism, and inefficiency.
He alleged that directors misused funds on unnecessary travels, and that a recent recruitment exercise was politically motivated.
“All those people must pack their baggage and leave. For the past eight years, we’ve seen nothing. If anything, we should have seen progress,” the spokesperson said.
The group pointed to the nomination of a new Minister of Energy as a signal of change and demanded the removal of all employees, including security and receptionists. They argued that ordinary Ghanaians continue to struggle while the staff enjoy privileges.
“We are fed up. Not even John Mahama will stop us because the country belongs to all of us,” the spokesperson declared, adding that their demands were simple: improved management and fair opportunities for everyone.
The group also warned, promising stronger action if their concerns are not addressed. “Nobody will stop us the next time it comes,” the spokesperson said.
