Accra Hearts of Oak hold on to details about Kofi Kordzi’s Qatar move

The contract details of Accra Hearts of Oak playermaker, Kofi Kordzi, will be kept under wraps until the deal is completely sealed, the Managing Director of the club, Frederick Moore has said.

Media reports indicate that the 25-year-old attacker has been shipped off to the Qatari club, Muaither, on a $150,000 deal.

However, the boss of Hearts insisted that official details of the deal would be made public only after the contract had been sealed.

“When there is an announcement to make we’ll do it. We have already made the announcement that Kofi is gone for his medicals pending his move to his new club, when anything changes we will let you and the rest of the media know,” Mr Moore told the Graphic Sports in an interview.

He explained that what was more significant to the club was not the funds that would be accruing from the deal but the opportunity for the player to enhance his career abroad.

“How much they are paying us, for me, is not the most important thing. The player has got an opportunity to play outside Ghana and everybody who plays in Ghana, or 90 per cent of those who play in the Ghana league whether premiership, first or second division their aim is to continue their career outside and Kofi has got a fantastic opportunity to do just that.

“That is good for him, it shown the tenacity, Kofi was spotted from a lower division league and was brought to Hearts of Oak, we gave him a platform and he’s been able to cope and done very well for the club and himself and that is the story and not the negative talk about his transfer,” Mr Moore said.

Even though the club also lost another key player, Joseph Esso, after failing to meet his financial demands, the Hearts chief said they did not have any ill-feeling towards Esso or any other player who plied his trade with the club.

He insisted that Esso left because his contract ended and explained that the striker was not the only player whose contract with Hearts had ended and subsequently moved to a different club.

“His contract ended, he’s not the only player whose contract has ended. We couldn’t agree on the terms with him. We wanted him to stay, he wanted something different so we parted ways, he is not the only player who has come to Hearts of Oak that we have parted ways.

“This year there are four other players we parted ways with and I treat all of them equally as important,” he said.
