Can Kotoko rediscover winning touch?

Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach Michael Osei is under pressure to reverse the club’s recent downward turn as they play host to Dreams FC tomorrow at the Baba Yara Stadium with the home side looking to win their first game in the last six Premier League matches.

Kotoko, who defeated Dreams 1-0 in the first round clash at Dawu, are in the fifth position on the league log but have not won a game since they defeated Wa All Stars 1-0 in Kumasi on June 29. Thus tomorrow’s clash presents a good opportunity for Kotoko’s under-fire coach to ease off the pressure on the team with a home win against a side who will be seeking to capitalise on the Porcupine Warriors’ unimpressive run of results and seeming lack of self-belief.

After seven matches into the second round, Kotoko have managed  only seven points out of a maximum 21, while fourth-placed Dreams, handled by Charles Akonnor, have amassed nine points from their last five matches, including a 1-0 upset over Liberty Professionals at Dansoman on July 17.

This afternoon, Accra Hearts of Oak and WAFA put their respective records on the line when they clash at Sogakope, with the Phobians seeking to become the first team to defeat WAFA on their home grounds to strengthen their position on top of the league log. At the same time too, the home side will be aiming to become the first side to end Heart’s unbeaten record on the road.

In other matches tomorrow, relegation- threatened Inter Allies will face sixth-placed Medeama SC at the Tema Stadium, while Techiman City engage Ebusua Dwarfs at the Nana Ameyaw Park, Techiman.

At the Wa Park, third-placed All Stars play host to Bechem United, defending champions Ashantigold clash with New Edubiase United at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi, Sekondi Hasaacas host Aduana Stars at Essipon and Berekum Chelsea play Liberty at the Golden City Park.
