Coach Killa assaults referee but denies spitting at assistant referee

The Head coach of WAFA, John Killa, is in trouble following an allegation that he spat on the face of, F.D. Ocansey, one of the assistant referees who handled their match against New Edubiase United at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium last Sunday.

The angry Dutchman, visibly unhappy with some decisions of the officials, on several occassions charged from his line in protest.

Subsequently, Killa was shown the exit and sent into the stands before the end of the first half.

WAFA lost the game 0-2 but last Monday their management brushed aside reports that Killa spat at the match official.

A statement issued in Accra said: “WAFA wish to discredit media reports that our coach, John Killa, spat at assistant one referee.

“We wish to categorically state that Killa had exchanges with the fourth referee rather.

“This was in protest to a tackle on one of our players which was bluntly overlooked by the referee.

“Some radio reports and Internet publications claimed the Dutchman was marched into the stands because he spat at the fourth referee.

“The reports are false and should be disregarded.

“Our Academy always abide by the rules of the game and we have been preaching Fair Play since our establishment,” the statement added.
