FA receives 20,000 Euros for Queens friendly with Germany
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has received €20,000 from its German counterpart as appearance fee for the friendly game between the senior national women’s team, Black Queens, and their German counterparts in Paderborn last month.
The Queens were humiliated 11-0 leaving many wondering whether the Ghanaian side were prepared for the game.
Earlier reports suggested that the GFA received 40,000 euros from the Germany Football Association (DFB) in respect of appearance fee but the Communications Director of the GFA, Ibrahim Sannie Daara stated. "We received 20,000 euros and not 40,000 euros".
"The amount was made up airfare and allowances for the contingent," he expalined.
He also disclosed that the association spent more than it received from the DFB .
On accusations by the Ministry of Youth and Sports that the FA did not inform it about the Queens trip to Germany, Sannie denied the allegation, "We furnished them with all the details about the trip before the team left but didn't hear anything from them," he said.
