Gold Stars kayo Hearts

True to prediction, the MTN Round of 64 matches produced some shocking results, chief among them being the 2-1 defeat handed Accra Hearts of Oak at Bibiani by division one side Gold Stars.

Hearts, who have been beside themselves with sloppy play since Mohammed Polo took over the technical reins of the club following the sack of David Duncan by the club’s board of directors, were a pathetic outfit Sunday.

They trailed 0-2 by the end of the first half and try as they did in the second half only a solitary goal in the 56th minute could give them some solace, while being knocked out from the contest.

But in Kumasi, Alhaji Gruzah's King Faisal came from behind to defeat Tuobodum Santos 3-1 in their encounter yesterday, reports George Ernest Asare..

The game was heading for penalties when Faisal conjured victory from nowhere with two quick goals through Sadat Awal and Suraj Ibrahim within three minutes of time added on to carry the day.

Tuobodum Santos shocked the Premiership side in the 15th minute through a goal by Gabriel Antwi. The midfielder pounced on a loose ball in the half of King Faisal and beat two defenders  before delivering a right footed grounder past goalkeeper Ibrahim Iddrisu.

The fear of losing the game in their backyard galvanised Faisal to pull even through Franklin Osei, whose 25-metre volley sailed into the net, leaving goalkeeper Rashid Sulemana stranded.

Sadat Awal then made amends of his earlier misses by outpacing his maker to slot the ball home, while Suraj Ibrahim added another goal for Faisal two minutes later to push his side into the next stage of the competition.
