Two smart classroom projects commissioned at Battor and Aveyime-Battor senior high schools to help boost STEM education

As part of efforts to enhance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, two smart classroom projects have been commissioned at the Battor Senior High Technical School (BASEC) and Aveyime-Battor Senior High School (ABAST), all in the North Tongu constituency of the Volta Region, by the Member of Parliament for the area, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

The initiative, implemented through a partnership with the Chinese government, aims to enhance digital learning and equip students with practical STEM skills.

Mr. Ablakwa, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed gratitude to the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Tong Defa, for what he described as an impactful and timely collaboration that will significantly improve teaching and learning outcomes in beneficiary schools.

The smart classrooms are fully equipped with internet, smartboards, tablets, solar panels, and relevant digital educational content to support interactive and technology-driven instruction.

This phase of the project covers two senior high schools in the constituency, Battor Senior High Technical School (BASEC) and Aveyime-Battor Senior High School (ABAST).

According to the Minister, the partnership arrangement saw the Chinese partners provide the STEM equipment and solar systems, while he facilitated the construction of the classroom infrastructure to ensure the facilities were fit for purpose.

Mr Ablakwa reaffirmed his commitment to advancing quality education and bridging the digital divide, particularly in underserved communities, noting that investments in STEM education are critical to Ghana’s long-term development and competitiveness.
