Kotoko hammer Ebusua Dwarfs

Kumasi Asante Kotoko yesterday maintained their winning form when they beat visiting Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs 3-0 in their Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to send their supporters into wild celebration.

Two goals  by Dauda Mohammed and Sarfo Gyamfi in the 21st and 28th minutes, respectively, and an 82nd minute strike by Dauda were all the Porcupine Warriors needed to seal their second victory on the trot.

Kotoko made their intentions clear from the blast of referee E. R. Binney’s whistle when Dauda Mohammed hit the crossbar and bounced on the goal line before being cleared.

The Kotoko lads kept mounting pressure until the defence of Ebusua Dwarfs succumbed in the 21st minute when Dauda   beat  onrushing Frank Andoh in post for Dwarfs.

Sarfo Gyamfi added to the tally when Dwarfs defender Isaac Kwain failed to clear a ball and had the easy task of slotting the ball past goalkeeper Andoh.

Dauda scored his second goal and Kotoko’s third in the 82nd minute when  substitute goalkeeper Akwesi Acheampong failed to grab a shot at first time before it hit the rebound into the net.

Dwarfs was given a glorious opportunity to redeem a goal when they were awarded a controversial penalty.

However, former Accra Hearts of Oak’s striker Gilbert Fiamenyo, who was introduced into the game in the second half by Coach E. K. Sarpong, kicked the ball into the waiting hands of goalkeeper Ernest Sowah in post for Kotoko.
