Medeama plot Kotoko ambush

Tarkwa-based Medeama Sporting club have hatched a plan to ambush defending champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko and repeat history in Sunday’s MTN FA Cup super final at the Sekondi Stadium in Essipon.

For Medeama, Sunday is ‘Operation Africa’ which is not negotiable as they need that victory badly to satisfy their sponsors Gold Fields Ghana Limited and Ghana Manganese Company (GMC) and book their ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup for the second time.

“We want to win and go to Africa. We are going to repeat what we did to Kotoko in 2013,” a confident-sounding president of Medeama, Moses Armah, told the Graphic Sports yesterday.

He maintained that the way they are going to unleash their young talented players on Kotoko, there is no way Kotoko can survive on Sunday.

“We’re going to deal with Kotoko the same way we handled Hearts in the FA Cup in Cape Coast,” Armah, a.k.a Mospacka, emphasised.

Medeama shocked Kotoko with a painful 1-0 win to lift the MTN FA Cup two years ago, while beating Hearts of Oak 2-1 in a semi-final thriller at Cape Coast last month.

With the current good form of his youthful side as his trumpcard, Mospacka believes not even the absence of Black Meteors’ duo of Kwame Boahene and Conney Idan can affect their chances of winning.

Another key player who might not be in their starting line-up is Raja Casablanca-bound Nathaniel Asamoah, who is expected to return from Morocco tomorrow after his medicals.

With their safest pair of hands, Muntari Tagoe, in post, Medeama will be counting on their predating striker Benjamin Bature to cause the necessary havoc just as he cancelled Ahmed Toure’s lead in their first round league match in Kumasi.

Other unsung weapons in Medeama’s arsenal whom they plan to deploy on Sunday include Jacob Apau Asiedu, combative midfielder Akwasi Donsu, Moses Sarpong and Daniel Amoah.

Mospacka assured that his side was ready to repeat the dose on Kotoko and thus entreated fans to come and witness their entertainment brand of soccer being masterminded by Swedish coach Tom Strand.
