After the fiasco of the abandoned league in 1957, a properly organised national league was launched in March 1958 by the newly elected chairman of the Ghana Football Association.

It was agreed by all that the Football Association should be the only authority to organise, promote and sanction inter-club competitions and matches throughout the country.

Ohene Djan rounded up the inauguration by stating that the objective of the league was “to provide a constant flow of material for international assignments and provide Ghanaians generally with a well-needed source of relaxation.”

A former board member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kennedy Agyapong, aka Kenpong, has urged supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko to remain resolute behind the club despite their poor start in th 2016 Ghana Premier League.

Kotoko started the season on a poor note, losing 0-2 to WAFA at Sogakope three weeks ago.

The result generated anxiety within the supporters’ front, with some calling for the head of the club's General Manager, Opoku Nti.

But the former board member of Kotoko contends that it is too early to call for Nti’s head.

The Porcupine Warriors hope to bounce back from that shocking defeat as they face Medeama who also lost their first two games to Ashgold and Hearts of Oak respectively.
