Expedite action on our review case: Hearts demand

Accra Hearts of Oak have expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in announcing the decision of their review case against Kumasi Asante Kotoko, urging the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to expedite action on the case in order to facilitate a prompt start of the Premier League season.

The Phobians initially saw their protest against Kotoko over of the eligibility of Kotoko’s Obed Owusu in their 25th week fixture upheld by the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee, which also awarded them three points.

However, the Porcupine Warriors were successful in their appeal against that ruling and saw all their docked points restored, which led the Phobians to head back to the Appeals Committee on October 23 for a review of the decision which they described as a “miscarriage of justice and wrongful interpretation of GFA, CAF, and FIFA regulations”.

Commodore-Mensah quits Hearts Board

A board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Emmanuel Martey Commodore-Mensah, has resigned from the board with immediate effect, fuelling speculations that some cracks are beginning to emerge in the boardroom of the Phobians.

Mr Commodore-Mensah, one time board chairman of the club, tendered in his resignation letter weeks before the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Accra last week. In the said letter he stated his decision to relinquish his membership of the board.

The decision came at a time when another board member, Afenu Apiigii, a representative of Africa Strategic Securities, the majority shareholders in the club, had earlier resigned from the board. Mr Apiigi has since been replaced by Thomas Esso, at the last AGM.

Mr Commodore-Mensah’s resignation, it had been rumoured, was as a result ofdeep-seated disagreement in the Hearts boardroom over the direction of the club.
