Dede Ayew, Toure in shortlist for CAF Best Player

Andre Dede Ayew has made the cut in the 10 players shortlisted for this year’s African Best Player Award by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) who released the list last Monday.

Ayew, voted the top scorer at this year’s African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and also enjoying a good run with Swansea in his debut season in the English Premier League (EPL), is set to battle reigning African Best Player, Yaya Toure of Cote d’Ivoire, for the coveted award.

Let me thank the organisers of tonight’s programme which is the 10th GFA/PLB Awards Night for inviting me to this all important programme. The GFA/PLB Awards Night as I gather seeks to honour some distinguished personalities and corporate institutions who have contributed immensely to the success of the football season.

Dr Carneiro sues Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is to be the subject of individual legal action from former Chelsea team doctor, Eva Carneiro, the Press Association reports.

It means the Chelsea boss will have to appear at an employment tribunal unless there is an out of court settlement.

Carneiro was dropped from first-team duties after Mourinho said she was "naive" for treating Eden Hazard during a draw with Swansea.

Her lawyers are already suing the club for constructive dismissal.

Frustrated Christian Atsu is back to his mother club, Chelsea, ostensibly for treatment after picking a stress fracture while on international duty for Ghana last September.

Atsu, whose game-time has been limited to two League Cup appearances since he joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan from Chelsea, has been back at Stamford for almost a month and could spend four more weeks as he struggles to regain his form.

The death is reported at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Saturday, October 31, 2015 of Mr Paul Kunkey, a former chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club. He was 72.
