Silver maintain lead in Ash hockey
One time a strong force in Ashanti hockey, Silver, lived up to the billing last Saturday when they thrashed Unique 5-2 in the second week fixture of the Ashanti regional hockey league to maintain their hold on the summit on six points.
The former collection of stars who only made their return to the league last season impressed from the push off till the final whistle in the 70 minutes of play with some individual field's goals and perfect drag-flicks.
Brobbey scored twice in the 18th and 48th minutes, Richmond Opoku, 32nd, Salisu Mohammed, 44th and Sarah Addai (the only woman in the team) 61st all netted for Silver while Amoako Bonsie scored all the two goals for Unique in the 28th and 41st minutes.
Peter Obeng took his goal tally to three after scoring one of the two goals for defending champions, Seniors, when they defeated Royals 2-1. The results moved Seniors to six points but with inferior goals on the heels of Silver.
There was good news for KNUST who bounced back after a shaky start with a beautiful 1-0 victory over 'journey men' Bibiani. Christopher Dogbe scored a 41st minute flick to give the academicians their first three points in two games.
The league continues on Saturday with Silver clashing with Seniorson in the top liner, Royals lock horns with Bibiani while KNUST face off with Unique.
