Former Arsenal man Emmanuel Frimpong joins fifth club in four years

Ghanaian international midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has signed for Cypriot side Ermis Aradippou FC on a one-year renewable contract, joining his fifth club in four years since departing English Premier League giants Arsenal.

Free agent Frimpong joined the Cypriot side from Swedish top-flight club AFC Eskilstuna after truncating his two-year contract signed earlier in February 2017.

Burkina Faso crush Ghana’s CHAN dreams

Ghana’s Black Stars team B yesterday failed to qualify for the Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN) competition after they were stunned 2-1 by their Burkina Faso counterparts at the Baba Yara stadium.

Coach Kwasi Appiah’s charges went down by two goals before the 25th minute mark, and had to fight hard to claw a goal back after recess.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe lauds Kotoko coach Steve Polack

Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, has commended Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach, Steve Polack, for his honesty in condemning a penalty decision awarded to his team during their MTN FA Cup quarter-final clash against Nea Salamina last Wednesday.

According to the ex-GFA boss, such acts of honesty were rare on the continent, and for Coach Polack to openly question the genuineness of the referee’s call was worthy of praise and emulation.

Azumah Nelson Fight Night: British boxers make merry despite losses

A contingent of British semi-professional boxers showed no ill-effects and made merry despite losing their two Azumah Nelson Fight Night bouts on Saturday night at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

The contingent of four semi-professional boxers was full of bluster in the lead up to the bout but they were unable to justify their lofty predictions when the bell tolled for the start of their fights.

National Unity Games: Eastern Region cry for help

The Eastern regional team for the upcoming National Sports Festival has appealed to corporate bodies in the region and the Eastern Regional Traditional Council for financial and logistical support to ensure successful participation in the competition.

The Team Manager and Regional Sports Director, Gifty Horsu Fianu, told the Graphic Sports last Friday on the phone that after a rigorous selection exercise, the region put together very talented athletes but they lacked the needed funds for training, camping and logistics.

Oluwaseun, Ghana's super featherweight champion had too much firepower for his semi-professional opponent John "Hitman" Hicks in the headline bout of the night stopping him in round three of their scheduled six-round International super-featherweight contest.

Popular national supporters group, the Die-Hard Supporters Union, has urged the Black Stars B to book the CHAN ticket on Sunday after drawing 2-2 with Burkina Faso in the first leg in Ouagadougou last week.

The group was the only supporters group which travelled to support the team last weekend and commended the relentless efforts of the players to secure a vital away draw ahead of the return leg in Kumasi on Sunday.

All pugilists for the fourth edition of the Azumah Nelson Fight Night yesterday morning tilted the scales successfully and also passed a medical examination ahead of tonight’s showdown at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

Kumasi fans, known for their loyalty towards the Black Stars A, are set to extend the same massive support to the Black Stars B tomorrow when they clash with Burkina Faso at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in a return leg of the Total 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier.

Ghana Open Taekwondo begins today

The First Ghana Open International Taekwondo Championship comes off today at the D.G. Hithramani Hall at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The championship is being patronised by over 130 taekwondo athletes from 15 countries, including host Ghana, which is being represented by 34 athletes.
