Appiah to battle Carlos, Redknapp

Five men are likely to face a Ghana Football Association (GFA) interview panel next week as the search for a new Black Stars coach reaches a crucial stage.

Although the GFA has remained tight-lipped over the identity of applicants for the job and the shortlisted candidates, grapevine sources have told the Graphic Sports that Frenchman Willy Sagnol, former Black Stars captain and coach, James Kwasi Appiah and Belgian Hugo Broos are at the forefront of the five-man shortlist that also includes Briton Harry Redknapp and former Brazil and Real Madrid star, Roberto Carlos.

Workers of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, together with their families, will tomorrow converge at the El-Walk Sports Stadium for the annual Health Walk and Inter-departmental Fun Games, dubbed the “Samuel Konadu Cup Games”.

Staff from the various departments, including Newspapers (Editorial), Administration, G-Pak, Technical Services and Marketing, will compete in events such as five-a-side football, tug-of-war, volleyball, lime-and-spoon race, table tennis, eating from a string, 4 x 100-metre race, 100-metre race and sack race, among others.

Polo: I’m ready to assist Appiah at Stars

 

Ghana soccer legend, Mohammed Ahmed Polo, says he is ready to assist former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah if appointed as the coach of the Black Stars again.

He reveals that, in conjunction with the FA, he is coming out with a five-year development plan that  would see the Black Stars annex the World Cup in 2022 in Qatar.

Black Stars to play friendly against Mexico in June

The Black Stars have lined up an international friendly against Mexico to be played on June 28 at Houston's NRG Stadium in Texas, USA.

The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF), Soccer United Marketing (SUM), Lone Star Sports & Entertainment and the Houston Dynamo today announced that Mexico will play Ghana on Wednesday, June 28 (7:30 p.m. CT), at Houston’s NRG Stadium, presented by AT&T.

Vice-President receives Queen’s Relay Baton

Vice-President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia Tuesday received the Queen’s Relay Baton for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Ghana, expressing optimism that Ghana’s participation in the games would bring more laurels to the country.

The next Commonwealth Games, slated for April 2018, and christened the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, will take place in Australia.
