Achimota Golf Club to host Pink Cup 2025 in fight against breast cancer
The Achimota Golf Club Ladies Section has announced that the 2025 edition of its annual Pink Cup Tournament will take place on Saturday, 18th October, as part of efforts to raise awareness and support for breast cancer.
More than a sporting event, the Pink Cup has become a symbol of solidarity and healthcare advocacy in Ghana. Last year’s tournament saw dozens of participants benefit from free breast cancer screenings, while GH₵40,000 was donated to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s Breast Surgical Unit to fund treatment and surgical interventions.
Building on that success, organisers say the 2025 Pink Cup will be even more ambitious, with an expanded screening programme, additional support for patients undergoing treatment, and a renewed push to raise public awareness about early detection. This year’s theme, “Golfing for Hope, Health & Humanity,” underscores the central mission of the initiative.
“Golf is more than a game for us – it is a platform to change lives. With the Pink Cup, we are combining sport, health, and community to stand with those affected by breast cancer,” said Lady Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, Kous Louanges Mang, who is leading the organising team.
The event will feature a day of competitive and social golfing, alongside breast cancer awareness talks and on-site free screenings. Participants and spectators are encouraged to wear pink, the global symbol of unity and hope in the fight against breast cancer.
Beyond the fairways, the Pink Cup is also a rallying call for wider support. The Ladies Section of the Achimota Golf Club is appealing to corporate organisations, health institutions, NGOs and individuals to contribute through sponsorships, partnerships and donations in cash or kind.
“This is more than a tournament – it is a testament to what can happen when sport and service come together,” Ms Mang said, stressing that every contribution helps drive change.
As the October date draws closer, the Achimota Golf Club expects strong participation and support, reinforcing the message that awareness saves lives and that collective action can make a tangible difference.
